Need to reinstall Windows 11 or prepare a USB drive for another PC? Microsoft provides the Windows 11 26H2 ISO in Italian for both x64 and Arm64 devices. You can download it from the official website or use the alternative mirrors described below, checking the file against its SHA-256 hash.
Version 26H2 has been available since 29 September 2026. The images covered here can be used for a clean installation, to upgrade a compatible system or to create a virtual machine.
For computers with an Intel or AMD processor, choose the x64 version. ARM-based devices require Arm64. If you are unsure, check System type under Settings → System → About.
Download the ISO from Microsoft
The official download pages are available for x64 devices and Arm64 devices.
On the x64 page, scroll down to Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices, select the multi-edition image and click Download Now. Choose Italian, confirm your selection and use the generated download link.
Available ISO images
| Architecture | Language | Image | Build |
|---|---|---|---|
| x64 — Intel and AMD PCs | Italian | Consumer, September 2026 | 26300.9457 |
| Arm64 — ARM-based PCs | Italian | Consumer, September 2026 | 26300.9457 |
The link remains valid for 24 hours. If you cannot finish downloading within that time, return to the page and generate a new one.
As of 29 October 2026, both Microsoft pages offer version 26H2. When they are updated for a later release, the available download may change.
Alternative Consumer images and SHA-256 verification
An alternative is to use the Consumer images hosted by NTriver, a service independent of Microsoft. Opening the relevant link prepares the selected file for download.
These are the September 2026 images, build 26300.9457. After installing Windows, use Windows Update to install subsequent updates.
| x64 | Download ISO Windows 11 26H2 English — NTriver | en-us_windows_11_consumer_editions_version_26h2_x64_dvd_af326c9d.iso |
| Arm64 | Download ISO Windows 11 26H2 English — NTriver | en-us_windows_11_consumer_editions_version_26h2_arm64_dvd_7240155a.iso |
The hashes stated by the mirror matched those published by Microsoft when checked on 29 October 2026. This comparison covered the published values, without downloading both complete ISO files from the mirror. To check the file you receive, follow the procedure below.
SHA-256 verification lets you check whether a file’s contents match the reference image. It is particularly useful when downloading from a mirror.
The following values apply to the two Italian Consumer ISO files released in September 2026.
Open PowerShell and run the command for your downloaded file, replacing C:\Path with the folder where you saved it.
For the x64 ISO:
(Get-FileHash -LiteralPath "C:\Path\it-it_windows_11_consumer_editions_version_26h2_x64_dvd_7272e9c9.iso" -Algorithm SHA256).Hash -eq "4A155CFF6748F433B017761FF0B5B6029878EC6EF267674418D65E0FED7D0520"
For the Arm64 ISO:
(Get-FileHash -LiteralPath "C:\Path\it-it_windows_11_consumer_editions_version_26h2_arm64_dvd_e1b7eaf0.iso" -Algorithm SHA256).Hash -eq "DE651996AF788D7F55B8D11BFA45D5B20E22013687EA2C37F3325A8CD4D7C5E5"
If the command finishes without errors and returns True, the hash matches. False indicates a difference: check that you have the correct file and download it again before using it. A path error means PowerShell cannot find the ISO in the specified folder.
These hashes apply only to these two files. An updated ISO containing a later build may have a different hash. In that case, consult the reference for the newer image under Verify your download on Microsoft’s website.
Create a bootable USB drive
To create installation media directly for an x64 PC, you can use the Media Creation Tool without downloading an ISO first.
- Open Microsoft’s Windows 11 download page and find Create Windows 11 Installation Media.
- Download and run the tool.
- Follow the wizard, checking the language and edition.
- Choose USB flash drive and select the drive you want to prepare.
You need an empty USB drive with at least 8 GB of capacity. Its contents will be deleted. The tool also lets you save an ISO file if you prefer to keep it for later use.
If you have already downloaded the image, copying it to a USB drive as an ordinary file will not make the drive bootable. For the installation steps, see our guide to installing Windows 11 from USB.
On ARM devices, preparing installation media may require drivers from the manufacturer. The x64 Media Creation Tool does not create Arm64 media: follow the instructions linked from Microsoft’s dedicated Arm64 download page.
Upgrade an existing installation or perform a clean install
To upgrade the PC from its current Windows installation, right-click the ISO, select Mount and run setup.exe from the virtual drive that appears in File Explorer.
Before confirming the installation, check that the summary shows Keep personal files and apps. If that option is unavailable, check the language, edition and supported upgrade path. Do not proceed on the assumption that your applications will be preserved.
For a clean installation, boot the computer from the USB drive instead. Selecting or deleting partitions during this process can erase data on the disk. Back up important files first and carefully check which drive you are working on.
Hardware requirements and compatibility
To install Windows 11, you need a compatible processor, at least 4 GB of RAM, a storage device with at least 64 GB, UEFI firmware with Secure Boot capability and TPM 2.0.
Check the complete requirements and the manufacturer’s drivers as well. Downloading an ISO does not resolve a hardware incompatibility.
If Windows Update says the update is not ready for your device, check for known issues before attempting an upgrade through the ISO.
Activation and support lifecycle
The download is free, but activating Windows requires a valid licence.
If you reinstall the same edition on a PC already activated with a digital licence, you can select I don’t have a product key when prompted and check that Windows reactivates after connecting to the internet.
Remember to select the correct edition: a Home licence does not activate Pro. A virtual machine also requires appropriate usage rights.
For Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations, updates are scheduled until 10 October 2028. For Enterprise and Education, support runs until 9 October 2029. LTSC editions follow a different lifecycle.
Version 26H2 belongs to the 26300 build family. The full build number changes with cumulative updates, so the number shown after installation and Windows Update may be higher than the ISO’s build.
